This little, wonderful masterpiece nearly broke my heart. Marjane Satrapi’s last movie is just as incredible as the graphic novel: the narrative construction is perfectly handled (with flashbacks and flashfowards and many different cinematographic styles); the heartbreaking love-story which becomes symbolic of the Iran that has been, and that cannot come back, through the character of Irâne; all surrounded by the magic and fairy atmosphere, a superb soundtrack and Marjane’s unequalled sense of humor. Outstanding!

I am not assuming that these are Dianna’s first and last solo on Glee (even though is very plausible), but it’s been a long time since she got a solo and “Never can say Goodbye” is truly beautiful so GO BUY IT ON ITUNES!! Let’s show Dianna some love and appreciation, this might be the last chance we have got.

This movie is fantastic! I was waiting to watch it since it was presented at Cannes in May, and luckly it didn’t disappoint my expectations. I read somewhere that it’s overated and that it doesn’t deserve all the attention it’s getting, because “it’s nothing special”. To me, what makes the movie so great is its semplicity: it’s a silent, black and white movie telling a romantic story in a very witty, classy and clever way, without the need of words and, on the contrary, making of words the “antagonist” of the main character and of the movie itself. I watched many well done movies this year, and The Artist is one of those, but I nostalgically loved this one particularly being a fan of old Hollywood movies and of vintage in general. Also, Michel Hazanavicius took a risk shooting this movie in the 3D era, and I think his bravery was rewarded since The Artist ended up being a marvelous work.

Everybody knows Audrey Hepburn. Mostly as a fashion icon, then as an actress. Many of her quotes are very popular here on tumblr, such as “as you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others”, but Audrey has not been limited to words: she served as goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, visiting Ethiopia, Somalia and the Sudan from 1988 until her untimely death in January 1993. Of course I love Audrey as a beautiful and talented actress, but what makes her so important and special to me is her unique and kind soul.

Keira Knightley: Marion Cotillard in “La Vie En Rose”, I think that’s one of the most extraordinary performances I’ve ever seen.”
George Clooney: The best performance of the decade is Marion Cotillard in “La Vie En Rose”. She was so good in that film, I actually really liked the film as well.

Marjane Satrapi: if you are looking for a little note of hope, you can’t find it in this movie, because there is no note of hope in life, you know? We are all going to die! I always remember the movies when the end is not nice. When the end is happy and they got married, and they had 2 children and 3 dogs and a big house… is not exciting. Romeo and Juliet exist because they could not marry and the story exist because they died: if they didn’t die nobody would care about them.
Golshifteh Farahani: for me it was an absolutely marvelous dream to be able to work with Marjane; we are both iranian, we are both on exile and it was a very great match for me to play Irâne, and to be Irâne. Yes, we lost Iran, but we still have Iran in our hearts.
No other woman makes me laugh as much as Marjane does, and this nihilist, cynical and yet hilarious way to talk about life, reminds me a lot of Woody Allen. And I know, Golshifteh, it was a big dream of mine as well, to see you two working together.

I can’t believe that both Marjane Satrapi and Golshifteh Farahani are at the Venice Film Festival, I love them to death. Golshifteh looks amazing as always, and now I can’t wait to see “Poulet aux Prunes”; I’m sure that Marjane and Vincent Peronnaud made a great job. The art is lame but I’m so happy to see them together that I don’t even care!
